Just imagine this – the person that you have liked for ages has said agreed to a date with you, and now you’re getting ready for the big event. This is your the only chance you’ll get to make the right first impression, but you’re struggling to think of great first date ideas. If you get it wrong, it is possible that you’ll blow the opportunity of something really special. A little preparation and originality goes a long way, so follow these three simple rules that will make them putty in your hands.
Keep it informal
Tradition suggests that taking your date to the flashiest restaurant you know is the way to win their love but you should think carefully, especially if you are not familiar with the restaurant. You want the date to be casual, fun and chatty, but it is hard to relax and chat naturally in a place where your every move is watched by prying eyes. If you can’t be yourself then neither can your date, and you won’t be able to show them your funny and charming side.
Don’t sit in silence all night
If you go to the cinema or theatre you will not be able to talk to each other for a couple of hours, making it hard to get to know each other. Don’t be swayed by ideas of kissing in the back row unless you already know each other pretty well! I feel that these types of dates are missed opportunities – imagine how would feel if the film was boring, and all that happened as you walk out of the cinema was a simple “good night” and parting of company?
Make it original
You want this date to be memorable, so don’t just do the things you do with every date. Most of us tend to go to the same venues every week, so can you imagine what might happen if you take your date to somewhere that reminds them of a really bad experience they recently? It’s difficult to recover from that one, no matter how charming you are. You really think this person could be special, so make their evening or day special too.
